Had a great time yesterday talking to the students in the Young Entrepreneurs Academy, in conjunction with South Mountain Community College and the Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce. We talked about E-commerce! They have wonderful ideas and plans in the works. So much to look forward to. Good job!
Some of the things we talked about were:
THE WEB AND MY BUSINESS.
If I did not have a web presence, no one would know about my website. RobardsHealthyLifestyles.com has gotten most of it’s exposure from social networking.
Having a company website has allowed people to see what I do and what I offer from many platforms, for instance, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Google +.
Managing a website takes consistent work and effort. You have to keep it updated.
- Understand Your Customers.
Describe your customers’ needs and wishes. You must know what your customers are looking for. For instance, my customers are looking for health and wellness information and products.
What do Walmart shoppers want and need?
Food, clothes, auto supplies.
They can go the store to buy, but can also order online. They can get store hours and numbers online.
- Keep the Main Page Simple.
Keep the main page simple. Need the ‘Title’, an ‘About’ link, a ‘Contact’ link, and ‘Categories’. Use RHL and goop as examples.
Keep it clean. Simple is clean. Clean and non-cluttered helps the people who are looking at it find what they need. Also keep it free from bad language, illegal activities, and pornography. Don’t use copy-writed materials.
